Chicken drumsticks

I was perusing down the aisle of the new Trader Joe's when I spotted chicken drumsticks at a tantalizing price. I love eating chicken wings and drumsticks! But I wanted to find a recipe where an oven or a grill is not required. I only use a pot, a wok, and a pan. I then happened to remember the summer after junior year where my roommates just poured coke into the skillet.

Let me introduce to you, Cola Chicken!
This recipe uses the syrup in the soda to bring out a subtle sweetness and a rich brown color, ultimately giving a wonderful caramelized finish.

Prep time: 10 min (the day before)
Cook time: 30 min

Ingredients
Chicken wings or drumsticks
Soy sauce
Dark soy sauce
Honey
White and black pepper
A can of coke
Garlic

Instructions
1. In a bowl, add 1/2 to 1 cup to soy sauce depending on how much chicken you have.
2. Add 2 Tbsp of dark soy sauce, 1 Tbsp honey, and add a dash of white and black pepper each.
3. After washing the chicken, place them in a large ziplock bag along with the sauce. Marinate overnight in the fridge.

4. Heat a skillet to medium and add minced garlic.
5. Add the chicken and sauces to the skillet. Cook on all sides evenly for 1-2 min each.
6. Add a can of coke (it's better if they are submerged) and cover with a lid
7. Cook for 15-20 min and be sure to rotate it every so often. The lid ensures that the chicken will not dry out.
8. In the last 10 min, remove the lid and let the coke evaporate. When it gets close, rotate frequently and watch for burning. You'll get a nice dark brown color towards the end.

Then chomp away!
